A 10-year-old Dutch boy lay in a hospital bed, head bandaged, skin pale and legs shattered — the lone "miracle" survivor of a plane crash Wednesday that killed 103 people in the Libyan capital.

A military cargo plane to Indonesia with a crew of 13 people and around 96 passengers fell into Madin, east of Java. According a spokesman of the Indonesian air forces, so far, 78 people died. It is estimated that the number of dead could still rise. Dozens of people were also injured. According to the spokesman Bambang Soelistyo, the Hercules transport plane flew from Jakarta to the northwest of the island of Java on a routine training mission. The plane hit four houses in the village of Gaplak before dropping into a field.
