Reopen the beaches in Hatteras and Ocracoke which were closed. Not only are the closings an economic disaster that results in devastated business, dead animals, and 371 thousands dollars a season to police them. We have lost our liberty. We cannot enjoy our national park any longer. It has been taken from us all. Recreation not Segregation. It is just as wrong to turn a recreational park into a wild life refuge as it would be to turn a wild life refuges into a recreational area. This is OUR home, we should be deciding not some right-wing activist judge in the city.

In Fall of 2007, National Audubon Society, The Defenders of Wildlife and the Southern Environmental Law Center filed suit in Federal District Court against the United States of America to limit or ban access to many of the primary areas of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, including Oregon Inlet, Cape Point and most of Ocracoke. Since 2008 they've began closing the beach, which is now slowly becoming from public to private property. They are trying to make people PAY for visiting the beach.
