A major earthquake struck off the coast of New Zealand’s South Island Wednesday night around 8:22 p.m. local time (9:22 a.m. UTC/5:22 a.m. ET). The major quake, that lasted for two-and-a-half minutes, prompted a tsunami warning that was later cancelled. The epicenter was located 95 miles (150 km) west-northwest of Invercargill at a depth of 33km, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, which measures earthquakes around the world. Twenty minutes after the temblor, a 5.8-magnitude aftershock struck the same region. There have been no reports of major damage so far, but if any - please share them here.
