On January 15th India willwitness the solar eclipse, which will be the longest lasting eclipse in the last millenium. The eclipse will last for 11 minutes at the peak, and will be first seen in the Southern part of India, staring from Tamil Nadu, and finally ending in the North-East part of the country.
Today, January 4th, 2011, the Moon partially covered the Sun. For north Africa and much of Europe, the event started at sunrise, whereas in central Russia and north-west China, the spectacle will occur at sunset. In North-east Sweden near the city of Skelleftea, the Moon has covered almost 90% of the Sun's diameter at 0850 GMT.
