In rural Honduras, these young girls make the daily trek home, over the hilly terrain, with their water vessels on their head.
Before the new Water.org clean water project in their village, they had to fetch water from a contaminated stream in the mountains. On average, women in developing countries walk 3.7 miles a day for water.
Today, they have ready access to safe water for drinking, cooking, washing, and bathing. Preventable disease has been reduced. A great deal of time has been saved since they no longer have to walk each day for water!
